EXCLUSIVE: The Prince and Princess of Wales’s Royal Foundation is applying for US trademarks, hinting that the couple could launch a mental health charity in the United States

Prince William and his wife Kate are extremely popular in the United States, and now news comes that the couple have re-applied for US trademarks for their Royal Foundation, a hint that they are planning at some future point to launch a charity across the Atlantic.

While it is a positive sign that the Princess of Wales is slowly returning to work following her cancer treatment, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond, speaking exclusively to OK!, does not believe this indicates that William and Kate are intending to make any big moves in America just yet.

“But the very fact that they want to keep the application viable does suggest that, looking to the future, there may be new plans afoot,” Jennie continues, while adding a note of caution. "And that of course is positive. I certainly wouldn’t want to put any kind of spin on the interest in moving into America. We shouldn’t try to set up imaginary rivalries between William and Catherine /Harry and Meghan. They’ve got enough problems without us adding more unfounded speculation.

“But William and Catherine are clearly very popular in the United States. I’ve no doubt that if the Foundation can help with the many issues surrounding mental health worldwide, then that support would be welcomed… and would carry with it a good deal of heft because of William and Catherine.

Kate is also planning her return to Royal duties, confirming this week her intention to host her annual charity carol concert at Westminster Abbey in December. The Together At Christmas event, now in its fourth year, will be broadcast on ITV on Christmas Eve. She also held her first meeting at Windsor Castle on Wednesday 18 September, an Early Years meeting that supports early child development, one of Kate’s most cherished projects.
