Somerville, from Uddingston, was given the devastating diagnosis in October last year after he began suffering from pulses in his left arm.
Keir Starmer has praised a Lanarkshire dad with motor neurone disease for his "bravery and compassion". The Prime Minister paid tribute to Mark Somerville during PMQs on Wednesday afternoon.
The 43-year-old has since set up the Mark Somerville Foundation to help those with an MND diagnosis as well as their loved ones. "Since then he has set up the Mark Somerville Foundation and is doing incredible work to raise awareness of the condition. Mark is in the gallery today and will speak to MPs later about living with MND.
Starmer replied: "I thank my honourable friend for raising this case. He mentioned it to me last night. And I do pay tribute to Mark who is in the gallery and the work of his foundation. This diagnosis can so obviously be devastating.
