Bobby Wales used to have Rory McKenzie's name on the back of his shirt growing up - now he's scoring goals alongside the club legend
Killie starlet Bobby Wales admits his maiden goal for the club was a moment he'd been dreaming about for years.
The moment was made all the more special - and surreal - by sharing the pitch with a club icon. The striker used to have Rory McKenzie's name on the back of his shirt as growing up and says he couldn't have scripted his first strike any better. “I couldn’t have scripted it any better in how it happened. It’s what the team wanted. We know we’re a good squad. We dug in and I was lucky enough to get the big moment.
He added: "It’s important, that goal. Not just to me but to the team going into next week. In the dressing room we’ve spoken about not wanting to have the same feeling as we did after Cercle Brugge. Hopefully the goal brings a bit of feeling, a bit of momentum into next week. I’m happy, so are the team and the staff.”
