The King is expected to make his most significant public appearance since being diagnosed with cancer today. King Charles will lead the royal family as it attends the annual Easter Mattins Service at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle.
It follows Princess Catherine's own cancer diagnosis, which she revealed in a public video earlier this month. Kate, William and their children - Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis - will all miss the Easter Sunday service.As Buckingham Palace announced his upcoming attendance, Charles was pictured carrying out official duties for the first time since the Princess of Wales shared her cancer news with the nation.
Today's service will be a smaller version of the annual gathering, with less members of the royal family as the King has paused public-facing duties while he continues treatment for cancer himself. The head of state was described by the Palace as being 'so proud' of the princess for her courage in speaking out about her own preventive chemotherapy, and is said to be in 'the closest contact with his beloved daughter-in-law'.
