EXCLUSIVE: Joe Fagan dubbed Christina McKelvie 'South Lanarkshire's Queen of Cuts', while McKelvie said Fagan was being 'deeply dishonest'.
Joe Fagan has branded drugs minister Christina McKelvie as "South Lanarkshire's Queen of Cuts" who "does not know" how funding arrangements between the Scottish Government and local authorities work.
Fagan had blamed the move on a lack of funding from the Scottish Government in a meeting last week. He has previously asked for more money from Holyrood to stop the cuts from going ahead. McKelvie said: “ recent outburst at the South Lanarkshire Executive Committee is a new low. It is completely unbecoming of a political leader and is being deeply dishonest with the public.
But Fagan hit back: “Christina McKelvie is South Lanarkshire’s Queen of Cuts. If there was a league table of council cutters representing South Lanarkshire in Holyrood then she’d be right at the top of it, having voted for more rotten settlements and core council funding cuts than any other MSP in the area.
