Angela Rayner , the Deputy Prime Minister, has publicly condemned fellow Tameside MP Andrew Gwynne for his involvement in a 'disgusting' WhatsApp group. Rayner, who represents Ashton-under-Lyne, expressed her profound disgust at the nature of conversations within the group, particularly the offensive language directed at members of the public they were elected to serve.
She specifically highlighted comments targeting herself, as well as sexist remarks aimed at her, and racist remarks directed at Dianne Abbot. She stated that Gwynne, despite his long tenure as an MP for the area, not only fostered but actively allowed the hateful and disrespectful discourse within the WhatsApp group.
