Former model Charlene McLaughlin, from Cambuslang, claims she has chosen to take on short term loans for essentials when she knows she can make the repayments.

A mum-of-four from Lanarkshire has shared how she's faced the cost of living crisis by taking on loans.

Charlene told the Daily Record: "I don’t like borrowing money but I will do it if I think the family is going short and I can make the repayments. The cost of everything has gone through the roof but there are things that you need just to get through life as a mother and a family. But most of Fair for You’s customers would not get quick access to a loan from a credit union.

Gail Porter said her own history of surviving mental breakdown, bankruptcy, marital break-up and alopecia allows her top feel true empathy with those facing hard times.
