“In addition to dozens of Merseyside Police officers who were injured, seven officers from Lancashire Police were injured. All have received medical attention and their welfare addressed in person. In Preston then patrols have been stepped up by police in response to concern from Muslim groups in the city.A spokesperson said: “This morning, Light Foundation spoke to the geographic inspector at Lancashire Police based in Preston about the violent disturbances yesterday at a mosque in Southport.
“As contingency measures, Preston Police will deploy low-level neighbourhood drive-bys at key religious locations, such as mosques and education centres, to ensure that communities feel safe and protected.”The three child victims of Monday’s attack are being remembered through regular vigils in Southport, as well as flowers and tributes being laid outside The Atkinson.Another five children and two adults are in a critical condition and a further three children were also injured.
