'They must have known when they named it how miserable it was going to make us'
For those of us who use the road regularly, which includes pretty much everyone who lives in Blackburn and Darwen, 'significance' isn't the first 's' word which springs to mind when we think about the A666. For safety's sake I'll say 'shoddy'.
Traffic lights - particularly those in Darwen - create tailbacks at the quietest times of the day. Take a drive down the A666 on Christmas Day and you'd be forgiven for thinking it's 8.30am on a normal working Monday. I wonder if they contemplated when they named it that 666 was the devil's number? If not, it's some excellent foresight.
And then there are the lights by the Post Office in Darwen town centre. I can't be the only one who wishes the road would go back to being the way it was before the pointless one-way system was introduced past the leisure centre.
