Parklands High School in Chorley is fully closed while Bleasdale School in Carnforth is partially shut
A high school in Chorley is closed today as freezing weather conditions continue to cause problems across the county.
As a result of the ongoing cold snap, the school also has frozen water pipes in the multi-gym and toilet areas. The school says it has attempted to contact the contractor responsible for gritting and making the site safe but have been unable to get a response.In a full statement, a spokesperson said: "Unfortunately, the Chair of Governors and I have taken the decision to close school tomorrow on the grounds of health and safety.
"Staff will be instructed to provide online learning for your children, either via Google Meet lessons or work set on Google Classroom. I expect school to reopen on Wednesday but will be in touch again tomorrow if the site has not been made safe." They are reportedly suffering from flu-like symptoms 'although not clinically diagnosed'. The school is closed all day to Key Stage 4 and 5 pupils.
