The clock is ticking - and it's not just seaside towns that will be hit ⏰
With climate change resulting in soaring temperatures, increased rainfall and the threat of wildfires the risk of coastal towns and villages succumbing to rising sea levels is becoming ever more apparent.
. The organisation has released a map which shows the areas of Lancashire which could be under water by 2090. These include parts of Lytham, Fleetwood, Morecambe and Glasson Dock. Earlier this year LancsLive spoke to villagers in Glasson Dock about the risk faced by the coastal area.Currently, many climate scientists and climate conferences recommend attempting to keep global temperature increases down to two degrees. However, even with this increase many areas could still be submerged.
Under Climate Central's predictions huge parts of rural West Lancashire would be under water as well as all of Southport, Pilling and parts of Blackpool. Thornton-Cleveleys and even the area around Blackpool Pleasure Beach would also be affected.
