The Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team (BPMRT) recused a woman who had been trampled by a horse

On Thursday afternoon , the Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team was called out to the incident. The woman had suffered a suspected fractured femur and as a result of the incident with the horse and was left in considerable pain.

The BPMRT team - based near Garstang - alongside North West Ambulance Service paramedics, treated the victim's injuries, before putting her on a stretcher. She was then taken to a waiting land ambulance at the road ahead. The incident lasted for around two hours, involving around 20 members of the BPMRT. Although there's been a bit of a quiet spell for members of the rescue team, the incident involving the horse has been their third call-out this week.

Taking to social media, a team spokesperson said: "We wish her a speedy recovery and hope she is out riding again soon." The BPMRT provides mountain rescue and search to Lancashire and its surrounding areas, 365 days a year. It is a charity that is made up entirely of volunteers and costs around £35,000 per year to remain operational.

This cost is raised entirely through donations, from both the community and from local businesses. You can donate to the charity through their JustGiving page.
