A new report says 3,000 crimes of violence against women and girls are recorded each day across the country
Lancashire police are throwing their weight behind a new national drive to tackle violence against women and girls. Today the National Police Chiefs’ Council released data from a national police report that shows 3,000 crimes of violence against women and girls are recorded each day, with at least one in 12 women becoming victims each year.
Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw is backing the NPCC’s call for whole-system approach that brings together criminal justice partners, government bodies and industry. He said: “As Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner I will fully implement a zero-tolerance approach to end violence against women and girls.
“This means working in partnership across the criminal justice system to reduce the scale and impact of VAWG, and maximising the use of technology and intelligence. I was pleased to see VAWG included in the Kings Speech last week, with government committing to halving the level of violence against women and girls.
