The incident took place 12 miles off the coast of Co Antrim
The Coastguard helicopter and two P&O ferries in the area are assisted, with the incident first reported at around 4.20pm.: " Larne and Red Bay RNLI’s all-weather lifeboats launched this afternoon following a report of an upturned catamaran approximately 12 miles from Larne .
A spokesperson for HM Coastguard said: "HM Coastguard received a report of an overturned catamaran in Larne, Northern Ireland, at around 4:20pm today, 4 November. HM Coastguard helicopter from Prestwick and Larne and Red Bay RNLI lifeboats were tasked and are currently on scene.", Danny Donnelly, said the news was "incredibly concerning." He added: "My thoughts are with those involved. I hope they are rescued and brought ashore by the lifeboat services.
