Harry Chandler, a Pearl Harbor survivor, died at a senior living center in Tequesta, Florida, at the age of 102. Chandler was a hospital corpsman 3rd class on December 7, 1941, when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor . He helped rescue wounded sailors from the water and wash them off of oil from exploding ships. Chandler recalled seeing Japanese planes approaching and initially mistaking them for planes from the mainland until bombs began to fall.
He said his first instinct was to take cover, but his focus quickly shifted to helping the injured. Chandler was the third Pearl Harbor survivor to die in recent weeks
