Many viewers thought it was 'disrespectful' to the Offaly legend

Viewers watching the Late Late Show on RTE were delighted to see Offaly legend Seamus Darby on Friday's GAA special, but were baffled why he was hardly asked a question during the show.

Darby was introduced by host Patrick Kielty to surprise Pat Spillane, who was also a guest on the show and was interviewed alongside the 2 Johnnies. The pair correctly answered three questions about Spillane's career, the last of which asked who scored the goal to stop Kerry doing five-in-a-row. When they answered Darby, the 75-year-old was brought into the studio and a clip of the famous late goal in the 1982 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship final was shown. The goal was voted the third greatest moment in GAA history in 2005.READ MORE: Bookie-bashing owner behind one of biggest ever Grand National bets dies

However, shortly after the clip was shown, the show cut to an ad break and Darby was given hardly any opportunity to speak, with a large number of viewers taking to social media to ask why, reports the Irish Mirror. One said: "Great show but thought it was very disrespectful to bring out Seamus Darby and then not talk to him."Someone else wrote: "Abysmal treatment of Seamus Darby tonight on Late Late Show."One other viewer posted: "So nice to see Seamus Darby on the Late Late Show. Just a pity he wasn’t asked a question.
