Nick Hulme, the managing director of East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust, has said that work is being done to improve technology within the service, especially with regards to the NHS app, which gives patients 'more control over their health'.
He told BBC Radio 4's Today programme: 'But I think there does need to be a fundamental review of whether we've got the right system of healthcare between secondary and primary care, given that the NHS was designed in 1948, when the life expectancy was 15 or 20 years less than it is now. 'It wasn't designed to look after long-term conditions. It wasn't designed to look after the number of frail elderly patients that we're now seeing.
