The Jambos' skipper has shrugged off links to Saudi Arabia, admitting it would be hard to leave Gorgie Euro nights behind.
He might text pal Jack Hendry and ask if he’s on the same wage as Neymar in the Saudi Pro League. But, for now, Lawrence Shankland has no plans on joining him in the Middle East.
Shankland has no idea what the future might hold. When he and Hendry were plying their trade in Belgium two years ago, he couldn’t have predicted the Scotland defender would end up at Al-Ettifaq facing superstars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Sadio Mane. “But until that moment comes, I won’t take any interest in it. I haven’t spoken to Jack. I’ve just seen all sorts of social media posts from over there. I might text him and ask if he got the same deal as Neymar!”
“Tynecastle is renowned for it. They’re great games to play in. We got a result in midweek and want more of the same against PAOK. “The matches are more open, especially when teams come to Tynecastle, and I enjoy them. But the biggest thing is the atmosphere. There’s big pressure on these games but that’s what you want to be involved in.
