No police officers will be charged, but the IOPC is still investigating the conduct of two officers with a decision 'to be made'
The lawyers of two men who have been charged in connection with an incident at Manchester Airport in July have spoken out.
The two defendants will appear at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court on January 16, 2025. Aamer Anwar, the solicitor acting on behalf of the men who have been charged, has now issued a statement on behalf of their family. "The incident led to a complex investigation by the IOPC and GMP. Today the CPS advised that they have concluded that there is insufficient evidence to provide a ‘realistic prospect’ of conviction for any offences against officers from Greater Manchester Police.
“Following this decision, I have lifted the suspension of the officer involved. The IOPC’s misconduct investigation continues and we will continue to cooperate fully in this regard. "This was a high-profile incident that attracted significant public interest and media coverage at the time, and we have worked closely from the outset with investigators from the Independent Office for Police Conduct and Greater Manchester Police.
