Yusef Camara also put the arresting officer in hospital while trying to escape
Yusef Camara, 20, was arrested as part of an undercover in Broomhall on August 28. He was found with £1,100 worth of Class A drugs, in 100 wraps. He attacked the arresting officer while attempting to escape, which led to the officer requiring hospital treatment.
For the assault on the officer, Camara was further arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker. Despite being found with drugs estimated to be worth more than £1,100, at interview he denied that he intended to supply them and said that he had them because he was “going through a lot”. He also denied assaulting a police officer and claimed that the knife he was found with had been given to him by someone else shortly before his arrest.
Detective Constable David Jackson, who was the officer in charge of the case, said: “The drugs Camara planned to supply in South Yorkshire would have caused untold damage to vulnerable people in our community and likely funded further criminality.
