Leeds United have been struggling with relegation clauses this summer but they have now expired
Exit clauses will not dictate any more of Leeds United’s transfer window. Seven of the club’s 13 summer departures have gone out on loans enabled by last season’s relegation, leaving the Whites powerless to stop clubs taking their players for the year.
However, all loan and permanent transfer clauses have now expired, LeedsLive understands. Luis Sinisterra and Tyler Adams were two of the high-profile names with clauses which could have been triggered, but as it stands, they remain United players. On any further offers which come in for Adams, Sinisterra or anyone else in the squad, Leeds have the power to decide whether they accept the terms or not. There are 16 days of the transfer window remaining for offers to still land at Elland Road.
Robin Koch, Brenden Aaronson, Max Wober, Diego Llorente, Rasmus Kristensen, Marc Roca and Jack Harrison all left Elland Road on season-long loan deals. United’s relegation activated clauses in their contracts which were agreed when they first arrived in Leeds.Andrea Radrizzani and the club’s top brass agreed to the clauses in order to push through wage cuts of 50 to 60 per cent in the event of relegation.
While Sinisterra has never been the subject of any credible transfer links this summer, Adams was on the verge of joining Chelsea last week, before the Blues pulled the plug in favour of Moises Caicedo. Then, at the start of this week, there was chatter about Bournemouth interest, but that has gone quiet and the American trained at Thorp Arch on Wednesday.
