Philippe Clement and his troops will NOT be able to host matches on their own patch in the early weeks of the season.
Philippe Clement ’s team will not be able to host matches at their own stadium Ibrox in the early weeks of the term due to building issues. Club chiefs are working to find an alternative base with Murrayfield and Hampden in the mix. Balogun says the players must concentrate solely on performances on the grass, but says it would be beneficial to get some clarity on when they can return.
Following the 1-0 defeat at Hampden which made it five games without a win over their big rivals during the campaign, Balogun confessed that Rangers lacked the confidence and belief of their conquerors. The centre-back says that mindset simply has to alter to eliminate weak spots and stated: “I think that is something we have to work on throughout pre-season. Have that shift in mentality. And maybe get a bit of more confidence.
“I think it is fair to say both teams were not at their best throughout the whole season, which probably made it that tight in the end. But, again, they had that edge over us and that is what we need to focus on, specifically. So it might be pressure, it might be a mentality thing, it might be confidence.
Boss Philippe Clement has started a first pre-season at Ibrox and, speaking to Sky Sports, Balogun said: “I have been at the club long enough to understand what this club is about. There are many other players in the dressing room who know about it and I think the manager himself will have a vital part to play in that as well.
