Liam Payne's girlfriend Kate Cassidy reportedly gave the former One Direction star an ultimatum in the weeks before his tragic death
Liam Payne 's girlfriend issued an ultimatum for him to choose between her and drugs before his death. The couple were on a getaway break in Argentina shortly before Liam's passing last month as he needed to reapply for his American visa, aspiring to settle there with the former waitress.
Nonetheless, it's reported he relapsed into substance abuse and alcohol consumption shortly thereafter. A source told the New York Post: "His drug use was causing a lot of drama. So she gave him an ultimatum: her or the drugs. He chose the drugs, so she had no choice but to remove herself from the situation. She thought she was doing tough love."
She held out hope he would follow her back to Miami, the source added. In the wake of Liam's tragic passing, just two days later, Kate posted a heartfelt homage to him online. Liam was smitten instantly and didn't hesitate to ask for her number. However, there was nearly a missed connection when Kate forgot to include the +1 international dialling code with her American number.
The duo reportedly first crossed paths on October 2 at a different hotel where Liam was staying prior to relocating to the upscale CasaSur Palermo. Braian also claimed that he and Liam shared a night together at the CasaSur Palermo on October 13.
