Line Of Duty viewers sympathise with Steve Arnott over awkward bedroom moment with girlfriend Sam
Line Of Duty got a little awkward tonight as Steve Arnott suffered intimacy issues in the bedroom – and viewers’ hearts around the country broke for him.
The BBC One series returned on Sunday night for its penultimate episode, which saw Steve enjoy a saucy dinner date with his ex-girlfriend and fellow police officer Sam – we’re talking dim lights, seductive music and everything. After exchanging some tense words about work because, you know, they’re only in the middle of a serious investigation, Sam put one hand on Steve’s shoulder and led him back to his flat for some coffee. However, things got very uncomfortable for Steve as he struggled to get aroused.
After telling his on/off girlfriend to stop and rushing to the bathroom, Sam uttered those words that no one really wants to hear: ‘Don’t worry it’s not a problem.’With Steve refusing to come out of the bathroom, Sam eventually left leaving him alone with his feelings of embarrassment and painkillers to numb his aches – it turns out Steve is still recovering from being injured in the series four attack that left him temporarily wheelchair-bound.
However, another pointed out that the timing of their shenanigans might not have been the best, adding: ‘Personally, I wouldn’t be having a shag as a deadly serious surveillance operation is in place but that’s me for you.’
