Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters is set to hold a news conference to discuss a large-scale operation that led to multiple arrests and citations involving suspected street racers.

Operation Decelerate, which happened on Saturday, stemmed from complaints of street racing occurring throughout Jacksonville, according to JSO. People from the area, along with others traveling from several surrounding states, were reportedly meeting to conduct illegal activities including closing of roadways, street racing, and various dangerous stunt maneuvers, JSO said.
Members of JSO and FHP partnered to identify those involved and locate the groups as they conducted these meetups leading to multiple arrests, citations and vehicles towed and/or seized.Digital reporter who has lived in Jacksonville for more than 25 years and focuses on important local issues like education and the environment.
