Ibrahima Konate was substituted during Liverpool's 2-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion with a wrist injury
Liverpool have been handed a fitness boost after it emerged Ibrahima Konate avoided serious injury when damaging his wrist on Saturday. Konate failed to reappear for the second half of the 2-1 Premier League win over Brighton after he had his left arm accidentally trod on by team-mate Virgil van Dijk as the pair were involved in a penalty-box scramble shortly before half-time.
However, scans have revealed there is no fracture - which could have meant at least a month on the sidelines - with Konate having instead sustained cuts and tissue damage to his wrist, with Liverpool hopeful the centre-back will be available for the Champions League clash against Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday evening.
Joe Gomez will be on standby to deputise for Konate having impressed when replacing the 25-year-old during the interval against Brighton for only his third Premier League outing of the campaign.
