Paul Gorst rates the Liverpool players after the 5-1 mauling of West Ham in the League Cup
Liverpool advanced into the fourth of the Carabao Cup with a convincing 5-1 win over West Ham United on Wednesday evening. Jarell Quansah put through his own net after Wataru Endo's clearance struck the young defender before Diogo Jota's close-range header restored parity. The Portugal international scored his second of the evening shortly after the restart to make it 2-1 to the hosts with a well-taken finish.
Mohamed Salah came off the bench to seal the result after Lukasz Fabianski had initially denied fellow sub Alexis Mac Allister on 74 minutes. Cody Gakpo then struck twice late on to confirm their passage into the fourth round. Slot picked a strong lineup with the likes of Gakpo, Darwin Nunez and Jota all named alongside full debutant Federico Chiesa, who was named in a starting XI for the first time since he signed from Juventus in a £12.5m deal last month.
