Spanish outlet AS claims Liverpool are interested in signing Alvaro Fernandez, who recently moved to Benfica from Manchester United.
United loaned Fernandez to Benfica last season and the Portuguese club activated their £5million option-to-buy clause this summer, bringing to an end the Spaniard's four years at Old Trafford.
Impressing since leaving United, however, his performances are believed to have resulted in interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid, the latter of which he represented during his youth career. Liverpool last dealt with Benfica during the summer of 2022 when purchasing Darwin Nunez, a player United were also eyeing at the time, and would need to be smart negotiators once again due to the fact Fernandez is under contract until 2029. The Portuguese giants are said to have "strength" over the player's future as his release clause is not currently common knowledge.
