A beloved pub in Liverpool city center, known as Coopers Townhouse , is preparing to celebrate its 100th birthday. Situated on Cases Street, near Clayton Square, this establishment has captivated patrons from Merseyside and beyond for decades with its vibrant atmosphere and renowned karaoke. Inside, you'll discover staff members who have dedicated years to the pub, alongside loyal customers and colorful characters who have been frequenting the establishment for just as long, if not longer.
Coopers is a place where cherished memories and lasting friendships are forged. Regulars often find themselves spending hours within its walls, drawn in by the warm ambiance. The pub's fame has extended far and wide, reaching new audiences through its active social media presence. Coopers boasts a rich history in the city, previously known as The Sefton in the 1980s. During that time, it was owned by Allied Breweries, who acquired numerous pubs through mergers. In 1985, The Sefton underwent a transformation to resemble a free house and was renamed Coopers, a nickname affectionately given by patrons in honor of Ada Cooper, a former licensee in the 1920s. Jonathan Yates, the current proprietor, took over the pub to enhance certain aspects while preserving its authentic character. With the help of his father, David, who previously worked for Tetley's, Jonathan has been delving into the pub's fascinating past. Jonathan shared with the ECHO: 'I love the romance of it and I love the fact that it's almost unique that I can't think of other pubs in Liverpool where you can pay homage to the past like that.
