The Premier League side's wages rose from £373 million in 2022-23 to £387 million last season. Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Fabinho, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Roberto Firmino all completed permanent exits in the summer of 2023, while several other players also left the club on loan.
The Merseyside giants made four new signings in the same window, with Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister, and Wataru Endo joining for over £140 million. Liverpool's overall revenue increased from £594 million to a club-record high of £614 million in 2023-24. They are now ranked eighth in the world for income after Arsenal, whose revenue grew by £150 million to £615 million, leapfrogged them into seventh spot. Liverpool's revenue was boosted by their strong commercial performance across the 2023-24 campaign. The Merseysiders' commercial revenue surged from £273 million in 2022-23 to £310 million last season as they continue to find new income streams. They did, however, suffer a hit from a broadcasting perspective after their revenue dropped from £242 million to £201 million due to their lack of Champions League football. But Liverpool did experience a reasonable increase in their matchday income during Jurgen Klopp’s final season at Anfield, with a £23 million rise from £80 million to £103 million. The German, who is now Head of Global Soccer for Red Bull, secured a third-place finish in the Premier League last season.
