Liz Truss has resigned as Prime Minister after just 44 days in Downing Street. Her premiership had been left dangling by a thread as she tried to punish MPs who defied her in the Commons last night.
He has been with the PM after a night of chaos that has seen Ms Truss desperately clinging onto power, with No 10 previously insisting she will survive until the next general election. Deputy PM Therese Coffey and Conservative Party chairman Jake Berry were also in situ at Downing Street, with the latter driven straight to the door of No10.
