Wed, April 3rd 2024 at 11:43 AMConcordia University scientists Antoniette McConnel and Dr. Mary Kay Johnston will study the April 8 total solar eclipse's impact on Earth's ionosphere and telecommunications using radio telescopes, as part of a NASA citizen science project. on April 8, scientists from Concordia University in Texas are preparing to study its effects on Earth's atmosphere and telecommunications.

Johnston, who has witnessed five total solar eclipses around the world, says even if it's cloudy, the eclipse will still be a sight to see and hear. She advises people to take a moment during totality to listen to the environment, as animals often react to the sudden darkness. "Understanding the relationship of this area on the sun, how quickly this area is being influenced by the sun, helps us to make better predictions on, you know, things that could potentially affect ," McConnel said.
