The chief also revealed there will be a "lag" before efforts to curb the spread of the the disease - including self-isolation and social distancing - will result in cases finally slowing down.
A spokesman for Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust said claims coronavirus patients had not been properly ventilated were “categorically not true”.Health Secretary Matt Hancock has said the NHS is set to receive 2.6 million masks and 10,000 bottles of hand sanitiser to cope with the swell in cases.
