London bus drivers will strike next week after rejecting a second pay offer. Currently, drivers are expected to walk out on: 🚏 February 1st 🚏 February 2nd 🚏 February 3rd
Around 1,900 drivers, employed by Abellio, are expected to walk out onMore than 50 routes around the capital will be hit, mainly in south and west London, Unite has said.
The union announced the decision to go ahead with the strikes after members rejected a new pay deal from Abellio. General secretary Sharon Graham said: ‘Abellio is an incredibly wealthy company, whose success is based on the hard graft of its workers. It can fully afford to make a fair pay offer which meets our members’ expectations, but it has failed to do so.
‘Unite is unstinting in its commitment to defend the jobs, pay and conditions of its members and the workforce at Abellio will continue to receive the union’s unwavering support.’Abellio offered its bus drivers a 12% pay rise when they previously striked. Under the deal bus driver’s basic pay would rise on average £100 per week and over £5,000 a year, according to Jon Eardley, the company’s managing director.
Transport for London has said on strike days, it will aim to run as many services as possible, but to expect disruption.Bus routes affected by strikes
