An ongoing IT issue is 'significantly' impacting Nottingham hospitals
Some patient appointments will have to be postponed by Nottingham Hospitals due to an ongoing IT issue, the trust which runs the site has said. Nottingham University Hospitals issued a brief statement on Twitter on Wednesday evening in which it said an ongoing IT issue is 'significantly' impacting its ability to process samples, slowing down patient discharges resulting in long ambulance waits and overcrowding in the Emergency Department .
This will mean some planned procedures and outpatient appointments will need to be postponed on November 24 at Queen's Medical Centre and City Hospital. A spokesperson said the trust is taking additional steps to maintain safe services, including bringing in more staff and seeking further support from health and social care partners.
Nottingham University Hospitals apologised for the inconvenience and stated they would contact affected patients directly. In a statement, posted to Twitter, Nottingham University Hospitals said: "An ongoing IT issue is significantly impacting our ability to process & report on blood samples, slowing down our clinical decision making. This is delaying our ability to discharge people and resulting in long ambulance waits & overcrowding in our Emergency Department .
We expect that some planned procedures and outpatient appointments will need to be postponed tomorrow . We apologise for the inconvenience and will contact those affected patients directly. Our ED remains open, but we do ask that if you do not have a life-threatening condition or injury, please use NHS 111 online or call NHS 111."
