The bar is covered in nods to the long-running ITV sitcom Benidorm
The city’s Pride Quarter has welcomed a new LGBTQ+ venue to its scene. Found on Stanley Street, The Benidorm Bar is based on theThe safe space, which used to be Social, is reopening under the ownership of drag queen Linda Gold. The Whiston-born business owner is no stranger to the industry, as she currently owns FunnyBoyz in theOpen seven days a week from Wednesday, October 23, the karaoke bar will feature drag queen DJs, pool tables, and games.
Back in 2021, Linda launched Benidorm Bingo - a fast-paced musical game similar to Bongo’s Bingo. After successfully hosting the event in the likes of the Camp & Furness and Mersey Ferries, Linda wanted to expand into its own venue, where her career began. The bar's walls are aptly covered in stickers of characters from the ITV sitcom. Customers will be told to"frig off" by Madge Harvey when they approach the fire exit door and they will be greeted by Joyce Temple-Savage and Lesley Conroy when they head for the toilet.
