Announcing the new Chancellor of the University of Lincoln, Lord Kakkar 🎓
The University of Lincoln is preparing to welcome its third Chancellor, the distinguished surgeon, scientist, and crossbench member of the House of Lords, Lord Ajay Kakkar. He will succeed Lord Victor Adebowale, who, after serving the university for nearly 15 years, announced his intention to step down last year.
Lord Kakkar, an Emeritus Professor of Surgery at University College London, became a life peer in 2010. His numerous notable roles include Chairman of King’s Health Partners Academic Health Science Centre, UK Business Ambassador for Healthcare and Lifesciences, and Chair of both the House of Lords Appointments Commission and the Judicial Appointments Commission.
Lord Kakkar served as Chairman of UCLPartners Academic Health Science Partnership from 2014 to 2021. In 2020, he took on chairmanship roles for The King’s Fund, UK Biobank's board of trustees, and the Office for Strategic Coordination of Health Research in 2021. Most recently, he was appointed Chairman of the Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851.
