Lorraine Kelly delighted fans on Wednesday evening as she took part in the Race for Life to honour her late friend Dame Deborah James, while dressed as a giant poop emoji
As the anniversary of Dame Deborah James’ death creeps ever closer, her dear friend Lorraine Kelly lead the star’s family and friends in a Race for Life to help raise vital funds to beat cancer in honour of her memory. Deborah tragically died in June last year after a lengthy battle with bowel cancer.
The family took to the 5k course as part of Race for Life for Bowelbabe, a new initiative which gives people the opportunity to take part in their local Race for Life event in memory of Deborah and fundraise for the Bowelbabe Fund for Cancer Research UK, which was set up to continue her incredible legacy. Over 6,000 people have signed up to Race for Life for Bowelbabe at events across the UK this summer.
As part of the Race for Life, ITV’s Lorraine got into the spirit of Deborah’s own cheeky sense of humour and determination to encourage people to check their poo, by running the course while dressed as a giant poop emoji. With a beaming grin on her face, Lorraine took everything in her stride as she ran alongside Deborah’s family members and several members of the public.
“It’s heart-warming to see she is still inspiring so many people and I know she would be incredibly proud and grateful to everyone for getting involved.”
