The owners' daughter had a sneaky trick to get customers to come in
A lost Liverpool city centre café which boasts decades of fascinating stories was once the 'oldest' café in the city. In recent years, Dale Street has seen a revival, boasting a number of independent businesses from pubs to food spots, hotels and more. Today, it is home to the likes of The Dead Crafty Beer Co., The Municipal Hotel, Dale Street Kitchen, The Twins Flavour, Carlisi and more.
' Florence's mother went on to open an oyster bar next door, called the 'Hare Soup Bar' and branched out again opening another three cafes. But when Dale Street was being excavated during the work on the Queensway Tunnel, many customers could no longer cross over to the café. The business was closed for a time, before reopening. It officially closed its doors back in 1940. By 1979, Jim and Hannah Folan took over the venue and ran it as the the Renaissance Café.
