During the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Shane Lowry's drive accidentally struck a marshall, prompting commentary about the importance of shouting 'fore'. Meanwhile, Rory McIlroy climbed to the top of the leaderboard, setting up a tense final round against his friend, Lowry. Despite the competitive nature of the tournament, the two friends displayed camaraderie off the course, highlighting the strong bond between them.

Broadcaster Andrew Coltart believes Shane Lowry could have done more to prevent a marshall from being on the end of a fierce drive from the Irishman. The marshall was inadvertently struck on the shoulder after Lowry fired from the tee on the 15th at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am . It was fortunately confirmed that the marshall hadn't sustained any serious injury despite being felled when the ball connected with his shoulder.

And Lowry has been told he should have given the marshall appropriate warning following his wayward shot. 'Didn't hear him shout 'fore'. We need to be hearing players shout 'fore',' Coltart said on commentary for Sky Sports. Going into the final round on Sunday, Lowry, along with Rory McIlroy, was one shot behind overnight leader Sepp Straka. But McIlroy has gone top of the leaderboard in California going into the final two holes of the day on -21. The pair are known to be firm friends so this friendship has been put to the test as they battle it out in one of the first signature events of the PGA Tour in 2025. But their actions on Saturday night firmly suggest that it's going to take more than competition at Pebble Beach will put the friendship on hold.
