The collision on Wednesday, October 23, has caused rush hour delays in the area, adding to long-term roadworks which were already causing problems., traffic monitoring service Inrix said in an update at 4.15pm today: "M1 Northbound before J24 A453 Ashby Road. Accident, lanes three and four are closed."
Traffic cameras in the area show slow-moving traffic and the queues were about three miles long by 4.20pm, based on Google Maps. Pictures from the M1 Northbound show large queues building up as the crash adds to the usual congestion.This motorway camera appears to show the scene of the crash, which has led to lanes three and four being shut.
Traffic is passing the scene in the first two lanes and a recovery vehicle appears to be at the sceneWhile the closure has gone from all lanes to two lanes out of four, things are still getting worse on the M1.The traffic queues on the northbound M1 now stretch back more than five miles - almost to junction 23. The queue on the northbound A42 is just under two miles long.Inrix added recently that all traffic had been held temporarily at about 4.15pm.
