Traffic on a section of the M1 motorway came to a standstill this morning (Tuesday, February 11) following a collision. Drivers heading north towards Nottinghamshire encountered delays of up to one hour near junction 21 in Leicestershire . The northbound carriageway, specifically within the entry slip road, was completely blocked as emergency services responded to the incident, initially reported at 7:47 am. In addition, a lane on the main carriageway was also closed.
Thankfully, all lanes were reopened by 8:40 am. National Highways, the organization responsible for England's motorways and major A roads, provided updates on the situation. Initially, they reported, 'Traffic is stopped on the M1 northbound within J21 entry slip road (M69) due to a collision. There is also a lane 1 closure on the main carriageway. Emergency services and Traffic Officers on scene.
