Motorists faced delays and significant tailbacks on the M6 this morning following an incident involving a lorry that left the carriageway. The incident occurred earlier today (Thursday, January 30) between Junction 26 (M58 Orrell Interchange) and Junction 25 (Bryn), resulting in the closure of two lanes out of four. Congestion stretched back to Junction 27 (Standish), causing delays of over 45 minutes at the height of the disruption.
\Greater Manchester Police confirmed that National Highways were managing the incident. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. However, the collision caused damage to the carriageway barriers, requiring repair work. Recovery crews were dispatched to the scene, and by this afternoon, delays had reduced to approximately 30 minutes across a six-mile stretch. \Adding to the morning's traffic woes, Lancashire Police reported a collision between a car and a motorcyclist on London Road in Preston. The incident occurred at 6:16 am, resulting in a minor injury. Further backlogs were reported on Skipton Old Road due to a single-vehicle collision, with authorities receiving the call at 5:18 am and confirming a minor injury in that case as well
