The motorway is fully closed in both directions
Until 6am on Monday, the eastbound carriageway of the motorway is closed from junction 18 at Simister Island interchange, up to junction 20 at Rochdale. The westbound carriageway is closed between junction 19 at Heywood and junction 20 at Rochdale.
It says: "Congestion to J21, the A627 J2 and routes through Middleton, Chadderton and Oldham. Routes through Moorside, Shaw and Royton are also affected.On the westbound junction of the M62 between junction 21 and junction 20, where the closure comes into force, there are delays of 50 minutes. There are delays of upto ten minutes on the M60 at junction 17 near Whitefield, before the closure comes into force.This video has more on the project which has closed the M62 this weekend, and the diversions which are in place.Motorists coming off the eastbound carriageway at Simister Island are being told to travel to junction 21 of the M60 at Chadderton, before turning onto Broadway, the northbound A663, and then northbound onto the A627M to re-join the M62 at junction 20.
