A 50-year-old man allegedly armed with a machete has been charged after he ran at police officers south-west of Sydney.

New South Wales Police received reports of a 50-year-old man armed with a machete on York St in Tahmoor about 9.50pm on Friday.The 50-year-old was arrested and taken to hospital for minor injuries he sustained. No police officer was injured.After being released from hospital, the man was taken to Narellan Police Station where he faced a number of offences.

Police revealed on Monday that he had been charged with five counts of stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm, custody of knife in public place, assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm and possess prohibited drug. He fronted Parramatta Local Court on Sunday where he was refused bail and will reappear at Picton Local Court on Wednesday.
