Social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp are currently experiencing a widespread outage. Downdetector, a website that tracks issues with websites and apps, has reported significant spikes in complaints for these Meta-owned platforms.
Both these social media platforms are operated by Meta. WhatsApp, another Meta-owned app, saw a surge in reported disruptions around the same time. The Mirror has reached out to Meta for a comment. There have been several instances of Meta and other social media apps facing issues and reporting outages, reports the Mirror.
