A man was arrested today by detectives investigating what they described as a 'highly sophisticated' mobile phone fraud operation. Police said a number of people, not just in Greater Manchester, have 'potentially been a victim'.
A 37 year-old man was arrested on suspicion of fraud and remained in police custody today for questioning. Police said victims were called by someone claiming to be from their mobile network provider. They were persuaded to upgrade their contracts and led to believe they would be entitled to an upgraded handset.In a statement, GMP said: "When victims called back to explain that they had an unexpected delivery, they were then told to send it on to another 'returns' address.
