Just awful.
A 90-year-old man was taken to hospital with a suspected fractured hip after falling from his mobility scooter due to "inconsiderate parking", police say.
The incident happened in Holywood on Saturday, September 24, on the Belfast Road, near to Holywood Rugby Club and Sullivan Upper School. Police say the man was forced onto the road due to the pavement being blocked. The man required medical attention by ambulance.Posting on Facebook, a Police Ards & North Down spokesperson said: "The male fell from his scooter onto the road as a result and was thankfully helped up again by passing motorists.
"A resulting injury to his leg required medical attention by ambulance and a trip to hospital with a suspected fractured hip. "This is the real consequence of something we have been highlighting regularly on this page where inconsiderate and frankly selfish parking leads directly to incidents like this."The message is obvious, park responsibly, do not block or obstruct footpaths, entrances, park on double yellow lines or within 15 metres of a junction.
