The man has been left seriously injured
The 45-year-old was left with serious injuries following the assault on Howard Street on Saturday night.
At around 10.30pm, a group of five or six men set upon him. A woman, aged 37, attempted to intervene, but she was also assaulted by one of the group.Detective Constable Larissa Cooper said: “We’re carrying out extensive enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this incident and identify the men involved.
“If you were in the Howard Street area around the time in question, or have any information which could assist our investigation, please call police on 101, quoting incident 4162 of March 11.
