Police cordoned off an alleyway in Old Market Square while the incident was investigated
A 33-year-old has appeared in court having been charged with the attempted murder of a total stranger in Nottingham city centre. The victim was hospitalised with what police at the time said were “serious head injuries” after being attacked late at night in Upper Parliament Street.
The victim who was struck with what was described at Nottingham Crown Court as “a blunt instrument” received first aid at the scene and was then taken to hospital. This week, Otis McDevitt appeared over a video-link having been charged with attempted murder.He also faces an additional charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm relating to a separate incident whereby a resident at Highbury Hospital, in Highbury Road, Highbury Vale, was attacked with a pool cue three days later.
McDevitt, of St Andrew’s Hospital, Billing Road, Northampton, will next appear in the same court on August 2.
